Four trees of Cupressus tonkinensis had been recorded living in the wild, one of them bearing seed cones. All of them are from 1 to 2m high. In addition, there are three trees had just died by forest fire made by local people. Cupressus tonkinensis only grows on slopes near top and top of limestone mountain at the elevation 400-500m a.s.l. Based on the study of 223 numbers of herbarium specimens collected by us in Huu Lien NR 126 species of higher plants, 106 genera and 60 families had been recorded in Cupressus tonkinensis communities. Among them main species are Burretiodendron tonkinense, Acer tonkinense, Sapium rotundifolium, Pterospermum truncatolobatum, Pistacia cucphuongensis, Wrightia macrocarpa, Sophora tonkinense, Memecylon edule, Streblus tonkinensis, Dracaena cochinchinensis, Asplenium humbertii, Impatiens verrucifer, Pilea langsonensis, Ophiopogon reptans, Aristolochia indica,, Dischidia acuminata, Dendrobium lindleyi, and Vanilla annamica.
