To date, a total of 796 vascular plant species belonging to 501 genera, 162 families, 6 phyla have been recorded from Tay Con Linh Nature Reserve. Of which, the phylum Magnoliophyta comprises 754 species, 472 genera, 141 families. The remaining taxa belong to five other phyla: Polypodiophyta (23 species, 17 genera, 12 families), Pinophyta (10 species, 8 genera, 5 families), Lycopodiophyta (6 species, 2 genera, 2 families), Equisetophyta (2 species, 1 genus, 1 family), Equisetophyta (1 species, 1 genus, 1 family). Among the plant families recorded from the study area, eight families each comprises more than ten species: Fagaceae (24 species), Lauraceae (22 species), Fabaceae (22 species), Rubiaceae (19 species), Cyperaceae (16 species), Orchidaceae (14 species), Rutaceae (14 species), Zingiberaceae (12 species), and two families each comprises the considerably large number of species: Euphorbiaceae (45 species), and Asteraceae (44 species). According to the known data, Tay Con Linh Nature Reserve is home to 53 precious plant species. Of which, 52 are listed in the 2007 Red Data Book of Vietnam, 4 are listed in the 2007 IUCN Red List of the Threatened Species, 14 are listed in the decree NĐ32/2006 NĐ-CP of the Vietnamese Government, and 5 listed in the Appendix II of the 2008 CITES. The study area is also a home to a total of 669 useful plant species, comprising 390 medicinal species, 91 timer species, 35 ornamental species, 54 fruit-tree species, 31 vegetable species, 36 attar species, 12 species for weaving, 10 phytotoxin species, 6 species for cattle-breeding, and 4 species for fatty oil.
