An assessment of natural resources at Cu Chi, a land-area with heroic traditions, was carried out. The survey results identified 70 species, 58 genera, 31 families, 19 orders of angiosperms in Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City. All these species are valuable resources that can be classified into 8 useful groups: medicine (24 species make up 34.29% in the total), wood (15 species make up 21.43 %), medicine and wood (14 species make up 20%), fruit-tree (3 species make up 4.29%), ornamental (8 species make up 11.43%), wood-oleoresin (4 species make up 5.71%) tannin (1 species make up 1.42%) and wood-essential oil (1 species make up 1.42%). 12 species are listed for conservation by the International Union for Conservation of Natural Resources (IUCN, 2007) and Vietnam Red Data Book, Part II. Plants (2007).
