Diversity of vascular plants in Xuan Lien nature reserve area, Thanh Hoa province

The vascular plants in Xuan Lien Nature reserve, Thanh Hoa province, was surveyed and identified with 952 species, 517 genera and 162 families of the 6 divisions, Magnoliophyta is the most diverse repesenting 92.86% of the total. In Xuan Lien Nature Resever there are 37 threatened species listed in the Red Data Book of Viet Nam (2007), 7 species in the IUCN (2007) and 14 species in Decree 32/2006/NĐ-CP by Government. The number of useful plant species of the Xuan Lien flora is categorized as follows: 409 species as medicinal plants, 78 species for timber plants, 222 species for food and food stuffs, 27 species for ornamental, 48 species for essential oil. The plant species in Xuan Lien are mainly comprised of the tropical elements (66.49%), of them, the endemic elements with 14.50%. In the relationship of species with floras in Asia, the flora in Xuan Lien has an affinity with that of Indochina-Malesia (7.56%), Indochi-Indu (11.55%), Indochi - South of China (7.04%), Himalaya (5.99%) and Indochina (2.84%). The Spectrum of Biology (SB) of the flora in Xuan Lien is summarized, as follows: SB =  84.77 Ph + 4.94 Ch + 2.41 Hm + 3.05 Cr + 4.83 Th.
