Hedychium coronarium favors wet habitats and cool climate. This plant was collected from Sa Pa- Lao Cai and cultivated on Experimental garden in Co Nhue, Tu Liem, Ha Noi. Where it   normally grows and develops. It's average height is about 1,2 m with 31,6 x 6,8 cm of leaf average size. The average length of root stem is 38,5 cm.  The yield of fresh root stem is 4,2 kg/m2. The content of essential oil in fresh root stem is 0,9‰. This is the first time, chemical composition of essential oil in Hedychium coronarium root stem was done in detail. The chemical composition of this essential oil is very complicated. The main components are 1,8 - Cineol - 43,32%, Beta - pinene - 25,45%, Alpha - pinene - 10,32%, 3- Cyclohexene- 1-methanol - 5,29%. The storage time around a month does not cause much influence on quality and quantity of essential oil in Hedychium coronarium root stem.
